I bought this book for a class I was taking and the picture of the book on here is NOT the same picture on the actual book i got. It is the same edition number, but other than that, it is the WRONG BOOK! I am very upset about this. The advertised it incorrectly.

Grade 1-4-- Time to board the Magic School Bus again with that wild, wacky, and wonderful teacher, Ms. Frizzle. After she teaches her class about the human body and they visit the science museum, Mrs. Frizzle shrinks the bus and the class--except Arnold, who swallows them. This gives Cole and Degen the chance for two parallel stories, inside and outside of Arnold. With the bus inside, Cole explains digestion from the stomach into the small intestines. Then the bus enters a blood vessel where readers can see the plasma, red and white blood cells, and the flow into the heart. From there the class, now out of the bus and garbed in operating room smocks and masks, flows with the blood cells, now with fresh oxygen, to the brain. They climb down the bones of the spine, follow nerves to see muscles work, and then finally catch up with the bus to emerge in the nasal cavity. Meanwhile on part of each facing page, Arnold has coped with being lost and alone and has made it back to the school. With an enormous sneeze he sends the bus out to join him in the parking lot. The class can now chart the body from actual experience. Cole concludes with a true-false test with answers to help readers distinguish reality from fantasy. As readers of the previous "Magic School Bus" books (Scholastic) know, this is an enjoyable look at factual material painlessly packaged with the ribbons and balloons of jokes and asides meant to appeal to kids. Degen's zany, busy, full-color drawings fill the pages with action and information far beyond the text. Using a variety of visuals, including notes, close-ups, and diagrams along with a variety of realistic kids, he moves the parallel stories to their conclusions. Kids will love this book. --Sylvia S. Fifth Food Group: Magic School Buses

Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen outdo themselves in "The Magic School Bus: Inside the Human Body." It is their most ambitious collaboration yet, and it definitely doesn't disappoint.
As is the custom, the third book in this science series (written in 1989) picks up where the second story left off. Ms. Frizzle is showing her students a filmstrip about the human body. "We're going to learn all about ourselves," she says. Then she announces the next field trip - the class is heading to the museum to "see an exhibit about how our bodies get energy from the food we eat." However, anyone who has even an inkling as to the kind of person Ms. Frizzle is should know that things rarely, if ever, go according to plan. A field trip is never just a field trip when you're taking a ride aboard her magic school bus.
The Friz and her students stop at a park for lunch before arriving at the museum. Afterward, everyone goes back to the bus . . . except for Arnold! He's still sitting at a picnic table, daydreaming and eating a bag of Cheesie-Weesies. And before the class realizes what is happening, the bus shrinks to the size of a Cheesie-Weesie . . . where it is promptly downed in one gulp by Arnold!
"I thought we were going to the museum," says one student.
"There's been a slight change of plans," explains Ms. Frizzle. "We're being digested instead."
Why visit an exhibit about the human body when you have a magic school bus and a teacher like Ms. Frizzle who can take you directly to the source?
If "At the Waterworks" was like priming the pump, and "Inside the Earth" was like getting the ball rolling, "Inside the Human Body" is like plowing full-steam ahead. Cole and Degen have firmly established themselves as a literacy force to be reckoned with; this is proven in the confidence of the writing and the boldness of the illustrations. There is so much going on in this story that you almost need a scorecard to keep track of it all. It seems as though Cole and Degen are bound and determined to one-up themselves with every book they come out with.
A list of some things Ms. Frizzle educates her class about would include: blood cells (red and white), blood vessels, digestion, germs, the heart, lungs, molecules, oxygen, plasma, the small intestine, etc. Do you know what villi are? You will after you read this book! Any idea what the cerebral cortex does? Ms. Frizzle will show you! Ever wondered why you sneeze? The answer resides in this story!
"Inside the Human Body" deserves just as much, if not more, a home on a person's bookshelf as does "At the Waterworks" and "Inside the Earth." Cole and Degen loaded their latest adventure to the bursting-point with information. You can see the growth author and illustrator have taken since their inaugural effort with "At the Waterworks." They prove that some things do, indeed, get better with age.
At the end of "Inside the Human Body" is a true-false test to help readers distinguish what things were true in the story and what things were made up. And, of course, Ms. Frizzle drops another clue as to where her next great adventure will take us. I'm pretty sure the class will think of their next field trip as out of this world!
It doesn't seem possible, but Cole and Degen managed to improve upon an already-winning formula. They are both in top form with "Inside the Human Body," a field trip that will take you from the brain to the small intestine and back again. Well, what are you waiting for? Hitch a ride on the magic school bus!
As Ms. Frizzle herself would say, "Seatbelts, everyone!"

One of our kids loves reading this book over and over. It's terrific in part because there are side notations outside the narrative story which add depth and can be optional on those nights when this is the last of many books to be read together.

I love this book! I love the spiral binding and photography. It would make it a great book just to be inspired by but I also love the blocks and the adorable projects that are included in this book! It has very clear and easy to follow instructions. It's a must have book for a quilter... including new, young quilters!

Wow! just WOW! You will want to do EVERY project in this book. And there are a TON. Possibilities endless. Her instructions are very clear and very generous. Often times patterns and books just give you the minimal amount of information. I appreciate all the different combinations for making an endless list of quilts and projects. SOOOOO worth the money. If I had to choose just ONE book of my bazillion to keep, this would be the one. Great for beginners, experienced, busy, not so busy, everyone! My quilting IQ just went up a bit after having gone through this book today!

side note: I wish it were a hard cover spiral binding...I was a little let down that it was just a thin cardboard style cover over the spiral.

What a fun book! The patterns are really cute---2 sizes, 6 inch and 12. Good cutting directions, so even the Kindle version would be useable. I like the "hard copy," though, with it's spiral binding. So many quilt possibilities here, I can't decide where to start: the 12 inch barns with 6 inch quilt blocks in them, or a sampler quilt with all the blocks or a block of stars? (I love stars!) ...or ??? So many choices, but a delighted dilemma.

Hunting and trekking

My husband loves to go hunting and forest trekking. I sometimes go with him when schedule allows and when the kids visit their grandma and grandpa. There were times when I think of our safety out in the wild, we do carry with us tools we might use in case something terrible happen but not as serious as this. After reading this book, I am taking precautionary preparation to a higher level and learn how to survive in the forest. He's planning for another trek and reading this book is very relevant.

Have you ever gone on a forest trekking trip with friends and got lost, stranded as there's no where to run?. I have often thought this was an advertising line for a movie or a camping product until I got separated from my group on a camping safe-forest camping trip. It was terrifying as I remembered it and all I had then was a can of water and my beating heart, surrounded by sticks and trees. Thank God I was found after couple of hours. After reading this book, I discovered How I could have turned around my situation back then and survive between. Reading this guide book, I wish I could go back and try building a ground-base shelter by myself, dress up for forest survival in other to keep warm and so on. This book makes you want to take out some days to see hoe good you can concert nature into a comfortable zone. It's a good book, I like it as it is really a huge help to all those planning forest trips. I assure you never get scared of been alone in the forest like I was.

I bought this book expecting some explicit instructions on how to set up my race car and maybe a learn few secret tricks as the title suggests.

But there are no secrets or even basic set up techniques to be found here, only incoherent ramblings about how experts will disagree with the author, but nothing tangible is ever said!

Great resource.

Great day-by-day record of the war. Entries broken down by area (e.g., Verdun, Mesopotamia, German East Africa), includes both political and military events, though the former is by far in the minority (and arguably too light in this area). Several illustrations and photographs throughout, which I don't think add much, but are welcome, as they are not the usual US-British-French-German-centric fare of pictorial histories. Several "topics" are covered on pages scattered throughout discussing certain major themes (e.g. infantry tactics) or innovations (e.g., tanks, aircraft). Mostly very general, but brief and concise; helpful to the general reader--and a reminder to the well-versed of the period-- to understand the war machinery of the conflict.
My only gripe is that the maps are mostly useless, as the events detailed in the almanac occur at a much smaller scale than those included. A companion atlas or appendix with detailed maps would help a great deal towards following the events, especially in more remote locals, such as Africa and Middle East.

Basic, not at all complete

Emphasis is on the military chronology, not the political or social history of the event that "created" the twentieth century. Starting with William Manchester's weak introduction, Burg and Purcell provide an almost daily account of events on the Western Front, with much less attention paid to other theaters. The chronology is filled with pictures -- many rarely printed and of some interest -- and generally useless sidebars that only barely scratch the surface of their topics. The maps are old, and completely inadequate for their purpose. The biographies are somewhat useful, but are only a glimmering of the promise that the book could have held. A basic reference work, little more.

Suited My Purposes Perfectly

This book suited my purposes perfectly. I am a high school math teacher and a long-time history buff. I was looking for a day-by-day chronicle of the events of the First World War to share with my math classes as the events' centennial observance comes upon us. (I honestly think I can give them a better overview than they will get in their history classes.) The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that I am an uncritical reviewer and have not read the entire book at this point.

An enlightenment.

I find this book quite a read. I appreciate that this book has combined the Law of Attraction and the concept of Manifestation. It is profound. And what is even better is that the book has been made for beginners, like me. I have read some books about the Law of Attraction, but never really understood what it is or how it works. This book made things clearer. And another thing worth mentioning is that this book made it clear why some people are still failing in their attempt to use the Law of Attraction and what they might be doing wrong. Indeed, when you put all your best, the universe will conspire to make you achieve what you want. This book is an enlightenment.

How can I reject it?

This book offered readers the chance to get anything they want or wish for. Provided of course that they do what must be done and make sue of the Law of Attraction in the right way. I find this book an inspiring reading experience. Well, books about the Law of Attraction always are, but this book has given me something more. It has given so much encouragement on how one can try to manifest and use the Law of Attraction. And I think that everything is worth a try. The book even said that this "will FORCE the universe to give you the life of your dreams..." If this is the offer, how can I reject it?

I will be sure to read every now and then..

When you want something and you work hard for it, the universe will conspire to make it happen.... Or something like that. That is what I've read before. But then reading this book has given me a different perspective. It made me understand the Law of Attraction more and how one can use it in order to get the things he desires in life. And to quote the author:

"The Secrets I'm about to tell you will literally force the universe to give you all the tools that you need to create financial, emotional and spiritual abundance by using the law of attraction."

This is exciting. Imagine, forcing the universe in order to succeed in every aspect you want to? This is a profound book that I will be sure to read every now and then.

Stoic tragedies!

I had to read this book for my class which focuses on literature for Augustus to Nero.
I have the kindle version. The starring in the e-book is really nice in elaborating on references which mention gods, events, et cetera that as an average contemporary reader we don't know about, but any Roman citizen reading this would have known. Yet I still think there were a lot more points that the book could have pointed out because really unless you have a very extensive knowledge of both Greek and Roman mythology it's easy to miss many enriching references in the tragedies. That is my main scruple with the book. As someone who does know Latin, for the syntax, I think it followed really well what you would expect from reading this in the original language which I really enjoyed. Latin prides itself on this paradoxical and ambiguous syntax that this translation did well capturing.

Now for the actual content of the book:
I love Seneca, most of the time. The plays Medea, Phaedra, Oedipus, and Thyestes do not disappoint. They are scattered with those stoic principles Seneca is so famous for. They have the fast pasted, passionate plots that you want in a tragedy. That being said Hercules Furens and Trojan Women, not so much. Both of these lack that spark of passion which makes all these other plays so interesting. They also seem to really not be focused on actual action but just retelling of former events.
BE WARNED: These plays contain very graphic and violent depictions of murders of children, incest, and so forth just so you know. It is speculated that Seneca wrote these during the Neronian period so this graphic violence is directly correlated to a pessimism he suffered from living in such a period working under an emperor like Nero, but who knows

An excellent introduction

Ms Wilson gives valuable information on Seneca's life and times, which helps explain the content and tone of the tragedies. She also tracks how he influenced Elizabethan drama, from Kyd to Webster.
