Review
From the reviews of the fifth edition:
“The book’s 16 chapters start with the history of computing for some reason, along with superficial chapters on morality, law, and ethics. … This book is clearly useful as an introductory textbook. … End-of-chapter references and suggestions for further reading are extensive and helpful in a classroom setting, as are end-of-chapter exercises.” (David Bellin, Computing Reviews, February, 2014)

Bad editing/sentence structure
By R
Purchased for a college course. The book has some interesting concepts and can inspire deep thinking at times however there are many occasions where the author's intended message is lost in a muddle of language that only resembles english. Example from page 88 in section 5.4.4.1 Information Gathering:
"Information gathering is a very serious business that is increasingly involving a growing number of players that traditionally governments gathering mostly defensive information weapons systems."
Due to a high number of sentences such as the quote above this book is most useful when skimmed for the gist.

Awful editing, and not really Kindle format...
By E R
UPDATE: The editing of this book appears to be non-existent. Like others have said, there are many interesting concepts within, however, it seems most of this book is a collection of nonsensical run-on sentences.
// Example //
"Cyberspace, because of immerse and telepresence capabilities and global reach, is used either in real time or otherwise, simultaneously by millions if not billions of people around the world. We note that these notions give cyberspace and in fact makes cyberspace not only a virtual environment but also makes it a potentially dangerous environment where one can do anything with no elegance, no accountability and limited responsibility, and all in a cover."

WHAT??
Original: I have the Kindle version of this book. Despite the errors the other reviewers have reported, the formatting of this book is terrible. I'm only 3 chapters in and I've had to re-size the text multiple times to display text that was above or below the screen cutoff area. I currently have a whole section that only displays as a column either to the far left, middle, or far right of the page. Unacceptable. It would appear that a PDF was converted to an eBook format without anyone checking it, and sold as a Kindle title. Very distracting and unsatisfactory.

Why are colleges using this book?
By Fin
Seems like a college student wrote this book. 5th edition and is still riddled with grammatical errors and duplicate sentences. To show statistics he uses weird math, "one out of 20% experience an intrusion, and one in 20% actually report the incident." I'm not sure who I'm more disappointed with, Kizza or my school for using the book in the first place.
